The American bison, or bison, is a large herbivorous species that inhabits the harsh and frigid regions of the Great Plains in North America or Europe. Apart from having to contend with the harsh living environment, their biggest enemies are gray wolves and bears.
The battles between these two adversaries are akin to those between lions and wildebeests on the African savannah, and they never seem to end. However, contrary to the usual scenario where the wolf would overpower the bison, this time it is the hunter who pays a high price.
The wolf depicted below was fiercely counter-attacked by its prey, thrown into the air, and suffered greatly before escaping death. With a significant injury, it will have to endure weeks of starvation before it can hunt again.
