An Unfortunate Turtle Becomes Prey to Hungry Crocodiles, Vanishing Like a Ball Before Being Swallowed Whole
According to Caters News, these photographs were captured by 42-year-old photographer Lisl Moolman from South Africa during a recent family vacation in Kruger National Park.
“I was sitting on the dam, enjoying the scenery and observing the animals coming to drink water. As usual, crocodiles were basking in the sun below the dam. The scene was very calm and peaceful until something caught my attention. A crocodile caught a turtle and swiftly plunged into the water,” recounted Moolman.
According to Moolman, the crocodile at the edge of the bank dove into the water with the turtle firmly clenched between its teeth. The turtle was incredibly resilient and hard to crack. While the turtle remained trapped in the crocodile’s jaws, other crocodiles started to gather around.
The crocodile pack began to fight over the turtle’s shell, creating an opportunity for the turtle to disappear into the water after slipping out of the crocodile’s mouth.
After a few minutes, the turtle resurfaced, only to be met by another crocodile eagerly waiting to engulf it whole.
