This exotic creature is reputed to be a native of Nepal living high in the Himalayas. The antelope almost looks like it could be the lap dog of the Abominable Snowman. The question here is, is it a real animal?
The simple answer is no. But it isn’t really one of those classic internet hoaxes either. This is actually a piece of art by artist CMWyvern. The Cloud Antelope is essentially a sort of posable doll.
Apparently someone got hold of a picture of the Cloud Antelope that did not have a watermark and started trying to pass it off as a real animal. As the old quote goes, “There’s a sucker born every minute.” and some people started believing it. CMWyvern has been the first to cry foul and has even added a disclaimer to the Cloud Antelope post on Deviant Art.
When someone chooses to have Wyvern in their name you can pretty much bet that he/she is into mythical creatures. The Cloud Antelope is just one of many mythical animal creations by the artist.
