Unconditional Motherhood: A Woman’s extгаoгdіпагу Journey with Twins, Born Two Years Apart at 51

A mother, who welcomed her third child at the age of 50 through IVF using donor eggs and sperm, later gave birth to her son’s twin two years later at the age of 53 through IVF with another set of donor eggs and sperm.

In Pennsylvania, USA, Lan Ma celebrated the arrival of her daughter, Tara, born on November 19. Tara was conceived through the combination of an egg donor and IVF, sharing the same conception day as her two-year-old sibling, Toby. In 2018, Lan, recognizing her older children were growing up and with abundant love to share, decided to become a single mother. Initially investing $25,000 in screenings, medications, and IVF treatments, along with an additional $3,500 for embryo storage and transfer, Tara’s embryo was one of nine created in June 2018. Lan’s sons, Thomas and Tyler, had expressed the wish for another sibling to accompany Toby in his growth. In February 2021, Tara’s embryo was thawed, and Lan underwent a successful transfer procedure. With a history of positive screenings with Toby, Lan took supplemental medications for the first 14 weeks of Tara’s pregnancy. The remaining pregnancy progressed smoothly, free of complications.

Lan previously гeⱱeаɩed that she and her family considered the gender of the child unimportant, as long as there was a history of excellent family health. Therefore, they opted to conceive Toby using donor eggs and sperm. Lan, who has independently raised all of her children and is frequently mistaken for her two-year-old son Toby’s grandmother, welcomed Toby’s biological sister, Tara, on November 19, also conceived using donor eggs and sperm. Lan emphasized, “I am in terrific shape and in excellent health, so the age was ideal for me. I did not have any children my age. I view age as merely a number. Because I take care of my body, both аttemрtѕ have been successful on the first try. I believed I was fortunate with Toby because he is a cheerful child who never cries, but Tara is exactly the same. They are nearly identical in appearance, sharing the same hair color and poses.”
