The streets of Kraljevo, Serbia, are witnessing a discernible increase in the population of stray dogs and other homeless animals.
Goran Marinkovic, an avid animal lover, generously spends his own finances to provide food for more than 100 homeless canines and felines. Despite his extensive experience in rescuing animals, his recent encounter with a young pup named Smesten took him by surprise.
“I have expertise in rescuing and offering refuge to vulnerable animals left without a home,” Goran shared with warmth. “My passion is rooted in a deep love for all creatures, whether they are a furry feline, a loyal canine, or any other beings deserving of compassion.” Goran went on to say, “My main emphasis is on tackling the challenges faced by abandoned animals wandering the streets without anyone to care for them or provide sustenance.” With sincere dedication, Goran tirelessly works as the numbers of overlooked animals continue to rise with each passing day.
One fine day, while feeding a group of stray dogs, he stumbled upon Smesten lying in a pile of garbage. The little puppy seemed terribly thin and sickly, with no sight of its mother around. To make matters worse, the poor creature had sought shelter from the harsh weather in an abandoned shoe.
Witnessing the dirty state of the tiny pup, the animal enthusiast was overcome with a sense of sadness. Goran decided to take responsibility for caring for the young canine, realizing that he couldn’t leave him in such a vulnerable condition.
However, Goran decided to lift him up and bring him back to his place, making a quick stop at the veterinarian’s clinic to get some medicine. After that, he started taking care of the little dog and helping him recover.
For the next eight months, Goran lovingly nourished and attended to the adorable puppy, witnessing an incredible transformation in Smesten. The pup’s coat transformed into a lustrous and pristine state, radiating a silky smoothness. Smesten’s overall demeanor showcased a newfound happiness and adaptability, making him perfectly content in his surroundings. And let’s not forget, Smesten developed an absolute adoration for Goran, seeing him as nothing short of an idol!
Familiar with furry friends, Goran already had a lively household teeming with a mix of dogs and cats. Originally, he had intended to secure a loving family for Smesten once the little pup grew old enough. However, as Smesten matured into a larger companion, Goran experienced an unexpected change of heart – the mere thought of parting ways became too painful.
Back in November, Goran warmly embraced Smesten into his home, initially planning to find him a forever family later on. Yet, over time, an extraordinary bond developed between them, rendering the idea of separation inconceivable.
