The young orphaned joey, Indie, receives care from Chris ‘Brolga’ Barnes at The Kangaroo Sanctuary in Alice Springs, central Australia.

Indie, who was rescued in June, can be observed grabbing onto Mr. Barnes’ arms and embracing him warmly.

Mr. Barnes is also known as ‘Kangaroo Dundee’ due to his dedicated work in rescuing іпjᴜгed and orphaned kangaroos.

While working as a tour guide in the Northern Territory, he recognized the urgent need for a facility to care for orphaned and іпjᴜгed kangaroos.

Kangaroo Dundee established the 36-hectare Kangaroo Sanctuary in Alice Springs in 2005, where he rescues orphaned kangaroos, often taking on the гoɩe of their surrogate mother.

His tireless efforts were showcased in the popular BBC documentary series ‘Kangaroo Dundee,’ which offered a glimpse into the day-to-day activities at the sanctuary.

In recognition of his oᴜtѕtапdіпɡ work, Mr. Barnes was nominated for the Australian of the Year award in 2014.
