Cardi B took a break from her legal woes with a visit to the nail salon on Thursday.
The rapper proudly displayed her freshly manicured, extra-long nails in an Instagram video, giving credit to her nail technician.
Meanwhile, reports emerged that Cardi, 26, is fighting to keep the details of a new court case confidential in her ongoing dispute with her former manager, Shaft.
Last year, Cardi countersued her ex-manager, alleging his control extended beyond her finances to her personal life, including her relationship with Offset. TMZ reports that Cardi’s legal team is concerned that the release of the deposition video and transcripts could harm her case and reveal private details.
They’re also worried the footage could be manipulated into internet memes or misleading clips.
Cardi, who counterclaimed for $15 million, accuses Shaft of financial exploitation, seeking not only a 20 percent commission but also half of her Sony publishing contract proceeds.
Shaft filed a $10 million lawsuit against Cardi in April 2018, claiming he played a significant role in her career’s success.
While Shaft acknowledges their successful collaboration, he’s disappointed by Cardi’s actions in freezing him out of her career.
Shaft alleges he facilitated Cardi’s entry into VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: New York and introduced her to key music industry figures.
The legal battle ensued after Cardi switched management to Quality Control’s Solid Foundation, led by Kevin Lee and Pierre Thomas. Shaft named both men, along with Cardi’s publicist/stylist, in the lawsuit.
Shaft’s lawsuit, filed on April 26, accuses Offset of steering Cardi to Quality Control for management.
A judge has yet to rule on Cardi’s request for privacy.
