From Tragedy to Triumph: Resilient Dog Buried Alive and Left for Dead Makes Miraculous Recovery.

A lovable dog, who endured a cruel attack from her owner and was subsequently buried alive on a Hawaiian beach, is now taking her initial steps toward recovery.

Leialoha was discovered buried beneath the sand at an O’ahu beach in Hawaii. She was in an extremely distressed state, suffering from severe swelling, sunburn, and having lost 90 percent of her fur by the time she was found last Tuesday.

A concerned passerby witnessed a man burying the dog and promptly contacted PAWS of Hawaii, an animal rescue organization. They shared distressing images of Leialoha, revealing her painful and raw skin condition.

Leialoha was swiftly transported to Aloha Affordable Veterinary Services, where she received urgent care for “severe skin disease and dehydration.” During her examination, veterinarians uncovered several lacerations on her front leg, leading PAWS Hawaii to suspect that the individual responsible for burying her had also inflicted these wounds.

Fortunately, following the treatment, the medical staff expressed their optimism that Leialoha would make a full recovery. They extended their heartfelt gratitude to all those who generously donated to cover the cost of her care.

Now in the process of healing, Leialoha is under the care of her “foster mom,” Amanda, as shared on the PAWS Hawaii page. Amanda shared her experience, stating, “Earlier this week, as I was browsing Facebook while my girls were getting haircuts, I came across a post about a dog on the west side of Oahu who had been buried in the sand and injured on her leg with a machete. She was severely sunburned, covered in sores, and had lost most of her fur.”

“My heart was shattered, and I knew she needed our care as a foster. Leialoha has made tremendous progress since that Tuesday night. Initially, she would only venture out of her kennel to attend to her bathroom needs. However, last night, she came out while we had friends over, curious about what was for dinner, and even found comfort under the coffee table. She still has a long road ahead, but the worst is behind her. Say ‘aloha’ to Leia!”

Accompanying the post, Amanda shared two recent photos of Leialoha, who, though still exhibiting signs of redness and soreness, appears to have considerably improved.

The post has been inundated with well-wishes for Leialoha and heartfelt commendations for Amanda and the dedicated team at PAWS Hawaii.

Here’s hoping little Leialoha makes a speedy recovery.
