A widowed father, whose wife passed away shortly after giving birth to their quadruplets, has garnered immense support from people around the globe. A GoFundMe page established for the family has amassed over $332,000 in under two months.
On January 16, Carlos and Erica Morales celebrated the arrival of three girls and one boy — Carlos Jr., Tracey, Paisley, and Erica. Despite successfully delivering four healthy babies through a C-section, Erica, 36, succumbed to hypovolemic shock, a condition involving severe blood loss, mere hours after childbirth. Today, Carlos is single-handedly raising the children in Phoenix, Arizona, with assistance from his mother-in-law, friends, and the generosity of over 9,000 strangers.
“I find joy in realizing that numerous individuals are contributing whatever they can afford,” Carlos expressed to People, reflecting on the over 9,300 donations he has received through the fundraising page. “Every single penny will be instrumental in ensuring that I can provide my babies with a great life.”
Nicole Todman, a friend of Erica, established the page with the aim of collecting $500,000. In her message, Todman highlights the significant financial challenges faced by a middle-class family raising four children, especially with the added burden of Erica’s lost income. She expresses the intention to alleviate the financial stress for Erica’s husband and emphasizes that every contribution, whether it’s $1 or $1,000, will be utilized to support the well-being of the cherished children Erica fought passionately to have and ultimately sacrificed her life for.
