In a shocking and heart-wrenching discovery, a newborn baby girl was found wrapped in a plastic bag with multiple stab wounds, including a rusty knife protruding from her back, in the city of Posadas, Argentina. Despite the horrifying ordeal, the resilient infant survived after receiving emergency treatment.
Gym instructor Diego Sebastian Penayo made the startling discovery while passing by Costanera Oeste Avenue. He found the baby wrapped in a blue and pink blanket, placed inside a black plastic bag, with a knife still sticking out of her back. Remarkably, the baby was crying and displaying vital signs when Penayo found her.
Acting swiftly, Penayo took the injured infant to a nearby police station, from where she was rushed to the Paediatric Hospital Dr. Fernando Barreyro for immediate medical attention. Doctors at the hospital determined that the baby, estimated to be no older than two days, had suffered multiple knife wounds, with the rusty blade still protruding from her back.
Reports indicate that police have identified and arrested the baby’s mother, who allegedly abandoned her shortly after giving birth at Hospital Dr. Ramon Madariaga Treble. David Halac, a spokesperson for Hospital Dr. Fernando Barreyro, revealed that the baby, named Esperanza (meaning “hope” in Spanish) by hospital workers, is currently in stable condition.
Despite the severity of her injuries, doctors believe that Esperanza will survive, as the stab wounds were mostly superficial and did not damage any organs. The miraculous survival of this innocent newborn amidst such cruelty has left the community shocked and outraged.
As authorities continue their investigation and the baby receives the care she desperately needs, the story of Esperanza serves as a poignant reminder of the resilience and hope that can emerge even in the face of unimaginable adversity.
