In a heartbreaking discovery, a newborn baby girl was found abandoned in a field in Thailand, covered in mosquito and ant bites. The infant’s cries were heard during the night in the Ladkrabang district of Bangkok, but they went unnoticed by locals until the following morning.
When found, the baby girl’s skin was raw and painful, showing numerous bites from insects that had attacked her throughout the night. Despite the ordeal, she did not sustain serious injuries, although her forehead appeared particularly sore from the countless bites. She was only partly wrapped in a tiny blanket, and her umbilical cord had not been cut, indicating that she was likely no more than a day old.
Officials quickly conducted a preliminary health check before rushing the newborn to Lat Krabang Hospital, where nurses have been caring for her for the past two weeks.
Police arrived at the scene shortly afterward to initiate an investigation into the abandonment, aiming to locate the baby’s parents. Lieutenant Colonel Samart Klinklao, inspector of Chalong Krung police station, stated that authorities believe the parents may reside in the vicinity of the area where the baby was found. Efforts include canvassing the local community for information and reviewing CCTV footage in the area to identify the individual(s) responsible for abandoning the infant.
This distressing incident underscores the urgent need for awareness and support for vulnerable infants and highlights the importance of community vigilance in ensuring the safety and well-being of newborns. As authorities continue their investigation, the hope remains that the baby girl will receive the care and support she needs for a bright and healthy future.
