North West – daughter of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian just had her first stage performance as lion Simba in the musical “The Lion King” at the Hollywood Bowl. However, her role caused a wave of intense controversy.
On May 24, the performance Disney’s The Lion King 30th Anniversary: A Live-to-Film Concert Event to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the legendary animated film The Lion King (1994) took place and attracted thousands audiences. In addition to the sound effects and majestic stage, the appearance of North West also became the focus of attention of the online community.
In the play, North West plays the young lion Simba and performs the song I Just Can’t Wait To Be King with a series of prestigious stars such as Jennifer Hudson or Nathan Lane. When performing, she looked very excited and enjoyed the spotlight. However, because it was her first performance on a big stage, North had many vocal shortcomings and an unprofessional demeanor, leading to her role not bringing positive reviews from the audience.
Many people believe that North West got the role because she is a Nepo Baby (a term referring to characters who come from famous and wealthy families in the entertainment industry). She was said to be suitable for this role if this was just a school play. Besides, the fact that North West was a special guest was only announced a few days before the event, making some people think that she “stole” the role from another child actor. However, currently, the above information has not been verified.
However, the online community is directing a wave of criticism at the girl’s parents – Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, both of whom were present at the show.
