Piccolo was living on the streets in Mexico when he was found and pulled by Compassion Without Borders (CWOB). Being a senior pup, he ended up in the care of Muttville Senior Dog Rescue — and everyone there immediately fell in love with the little naked guy.
“I was at Muttville the day after Piccolo arrived in San Francisco,” Patty Stanton, who does public relations at Muttville Senior Dog Rescue, told The Dodo. “He was called Chester while with CWOB. Poor boy, he sure suffered on his own down there. He had hardly any hair and his skin must have hurt, yet he was sweet and seemed to know that all of us were here to help.”
No one knew how long Piccolo had been on his own or how long he’d been dealing with skin conditions. Since he was already 10 years old, it seemed likely his fur might never fully grow back. Luckily, a couple saw Piccolo’s profile and decided he would be the perfect addition to their family, naked or not.
Piccolo went from not having anything of his own to being welcomed into a family who spoiled him with toys, soft blankets and love. He may never be covered with fur like other dogs, but that’s OK — because his parents bought him an entire wardrobe of sweaters to make up for it.
Now, Piccolo struts his stuff wearing his comfy sweaters everywhere. He loves going on adventures literally anywhere, even to the vet, and his parents are so glad they can help him spend his golden years in comfort and style.
“He spends hours by the heater — it’s his favorite spot in the house — on lots of blankets, and has discovered the joy of belly rubs,” Tiffany, Piccolo’s mom, told Muttville. “You would never guess how he spent his first several years based on the spoiled pup we have now!”
Piccolo went from living on the streets of Mexico to wearing sweaters by the heater in sunny California, and everyone who knows him is so thrilled that he’s finally found love, happiness and peace.
