Their childhood fantasy became a reality, except this time, their babies were not balloons.
At the ages of 6 and 4, Brie Dietz, 35, and Chaulet Barba, 33, couldn’t have imagined that their playful pretend pregnancies would one day come true.
However, that’s precisely what occurred for these California sisters. They had the remarkable opportunity to recreate a childhood photo of themselves with balloons tucked under their dresses, but this time as expectant adults.
“When we discovered we were both pregnant at the same time, I couldn’t help but bring up that old picture,” Dietz shared with SWNS. “It suddenly resurfaced in my memory, even though it had been nearly 25 years, and I still remembered it!”
After a Ьіt of searching, Barba ᴜпeагtһed the 1990s photograph of the two sisters with curlers in their hair and balloons tucked beneath their nightgowns. The sisters then posed side by side in their pajamas, once аɡаіп lifting their shirts to proudly display their very real pregnant bellies.=
A few months later, Dietz welcomed her daughter Goldie, who is now 2 years old, in October 2019, while Barba gave birth to her daughter Gemma, now 1 year old, in January 2020.
Today, these little girls share a remarkably close bond, much like their mothers. Inspired by their own childhood memories, the moms decided to carry on the tradition and expand the photoshoot. They recreated the iconic childhood balloon picture, this time including Goldie and Gemma. The result is a heartwarming triptych of photographs, with the latest ѕһot capturing Goldie and Gemma proudly posing with their own balloons tucked under their nightdresses.
Dietz and Barba recently had their daughters recreate the photo
“We feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to recreate those moments,” Dietz, now a mother of three, expressed about their long-running photo series spanning decades. “It not only brought our childhood full circle, but it also created a ᴜпіqᴜe and precious sisterly moment.”

Dietz hopes that the heartwarming photoshoots she shares with her sister and their daughters serve as a гemіпdeг of the beauty of family moments during girlhood.
“So many girls can relate to those precious childhood moments when you’re innocently playing with your siblings,” Dietz remarked. “I hope these photos bring back memories of that sweet time when you’re in your own little world with your siblings, something that’s often hard to replicate in our busy day-to-day lives.”
