Surrogacy is an arrangement in which a person agrees to carry and give birth to a baby for someone else. Once the baby is born, custody and guardianship are transferred to the intended parents. Surrogacy involves complex ɩeɡаɩ and medісаɩ processes that must be followed. It is сгᴜсіаɩ to understand the procedure, seek professional guidance, and establish a ѕtгoпɡ support network.

There are two main types of surrogacy:

1. Traditional Surrogacy: In this method, a woman is artificially inseminated with the father’s sperm. She then carries and delivers the baby for the intended parents to raise. The traditional surrogate is the biological mother of the baby because it was her egg that was fertilized by the father’s sperm. Donor sperm can also be used in this process.

2. Gestational Surrogacy: This technique involves in vitro fertilization (IVF), where eggs are collected from the mother (or an egg donor) and fertilized with sperm from the father (or a sperm donor). The resulting embryo is then implanted into the uterus of a gestational surrogate. The surrogate carries the baby to term but has no genetic connection to the child since her egg was not used in the process.
