Dzul Dzulfikri, a photographer from Bekasi City, Indonesia, recently caused a sensation on social media with his series of photos capturing the highly venomous green viper snake hunting.
“In the world of snakes, the more beautiful and colorful they are, the more deadly their venom tends to be,” commented Dzulfikri.
Dzulfikri managed to capture the images of a green viper snake hunting right in the garden of a close friend.
Recalling the scene, the photographer described how the mouse approached the green viper snake, almost sealing its own fate.
“The mouse kept getting closer to the nearly 70cm long snake. It was constantly sniffing around, seemingly unaware of the hidden danger ahead. The mouse even touched lips with the green viper snake. In the blink of an eye, the unfortunate mouse ended up in the jaws of the dangerous snake,” said Dzulfikri.
The green viper (also known as the Malayan pit viper or green tree pit viper) is considered one of the most venomous reptiles in the world. Its venom is capable of paralyzing prey, damaging tissues, and disrupting blood vessels in a short period of time.
Without antivenom treatment, an adult human can lose their life within less than an hour after being bitten by a green viper snake.
Moreover, the fangs of the green viper are very sharp. They are specially designed to inflict deep bites and inject venom into the prey.
“The mouse perhaps mistakenly gave its love to the wrong recipient,” said Dzulfikri.
