A Reddit user posted a picture of the creature online, claiming that his mother and girlfriend discovered it on the beach in Broome, on WA’s northern coast.

The photograph depicts the creature on the sand, surrounded by dozens of mottled-black tentacles that appear to envelop an inflated appendage.

A bizzare creature resembling an alien has washed up on a beach in Western Australia and baffled locals 

The creature perplexed Reddit users as well, with some commenters speculating on what it could be.

‘What the heck?’ said one commenter.

‘Quite the creature,’ another said.

Eventually, it appeared that the creature was a sea anemone that had been flipped upside down after being beached on the shore.

‘I think you are correct,’ another commenter said.

The armed anemone can grow up to 50cm in size and is found in tropical waters off the coast of Western Australia.

They usually have more color, but Reddit users speculated that the sun had bleached it.

It also has a venemous sting that can be extremely painful to humans and can take months to heal.
