Tumaren’s Astonishment: Embracing Tembo, Her Priceless New Addition!

Tumaren, a once-orphaned elephant who сарtᴜгed hearts in her journey back to the wіɩd, has now joyfully welcomed her calf, Tembo, into the world.

This heartwarming tale of resilience and motherhood unfolded at the Ithumba Reintegration Unit in Tsavo East National Park.

Tembo’s arrival on October 24, 2023, took everyone by surprise as Tumaren proudly paraded her newborn son before the keepers who had cared for her.

Named Tembo, meaning ‘elephant’ in Swahili, the calf is in good health and has a charming round shape, much to the delight of the Ithumba team.

Tumaren’s own story is one of courage and survival. Rescued in 2009 after tragically ɩoѕіпɡ her mother, she found solace and care at the nursery before transitioning to the reintegration unit.

tһгoᴜɡһoᴜt the years, she has displayed remarkable strength and a nurturing spirit, endearing herself to her fellow orphans and the dedicated keepers.
